Team Rules & Requirements

Lessons

  • All team members are expected to attend weekly team lessons. When accepting a position on the team, you accept the responsibility of attending and financing weekly lessons.

  • Riders will only be excused from a weekly lesson if they have one of the following excuses: sickness/accident, family emergency, out of town, exam or scheduled school conflict.

  •  If you simply do not show up for your lesson, you will not be reimbursed for
that lesson nor be able to reschedule.

  • If you cannot attend your lesson, please email our barn manager, Logan, and our coach, Margaret, to let them know at least 24 hours prior. Texting the club president or any club officer is not sufficient if you wish to receive a make up lesson.

  • Riders must update the make-up lesson spreadsheet if they wish to receive make-up lessons.

  • You are allowed 2 UNEXCUSED missed lessons per semester. More than three missed lessons can result in consequences. i.e. no showing.

  • After 1 missed lesson without an excuse, you get a warning. 2 missed lessons no excuse, you will not show at next show. 3 or more missed lessons without excuses will result in your removal from the team.

  • The following reasons for not attending lessons will NOT be excused: studying for exam/homework, last-minute plan changes, another conflicting club event.

  • You should arrive 30 minutes before each lesson and allow enough time to
properly groom and tack your horse. Allow 30 minutes after your lesson to properly cool down your horse, clean your tack, and put everything away. If your schedule conflicts, you can ask teammates to help you tack up/cool down the horse.

Shows

  • We expect all team members to attend each show to support our riders, regardless if they are showing or not.

  • Those who cannot attend shows will be excused if they have one of the following reasons: sickness/accident, family emergency, out of town, exam or scheduled school conflict.

  • If you cannot attend a show last minute for an unexpected circumstance (sickness/accident or family emergency), we will completely understand. However you must inform the club officers via email or text as soon as you become aware of this information.

  • The following reasons for not attending shows will NOT be excused: studying for exam/homework, last-minute plan changes, another conflicting club event.

Finance

  • Each team and club member is responsible for paying a small club membership at the beginning of each fall semester.

  • Each team member is responsible for paying MacNair’s Country Acres for weekly lessons throughout both semesters. Lesson prices may fluctuate each year depending on the rules of our barn (not determined by the club or officers).

  • Each team member is responsible for purchasing any new gear or clothing they need for practices or showing. They will also have the opportunity to buy branded team gear.

  • Each team member who attends a show is responsible for paying for their individual show fee (these normally are around $60 per class).

  • All dues for the club and team must be paid in full and on time. If you pay in cash, please round up to the nearest dollar.

  • Late fees consist of $10.

  • If you have any outstanding dues, you will not be able to show until it is paid.

  • If your lesson payments are late, you will not be able to participate in lessons
    until you have paid.

  • Money will be collected for team wear prior to ordering the gear.

  • Our team does not have control over most of these financial burdens because they are determined by the barn we are hosted by. That being said, depending on the circumstances, the club will offer to pay for portions of these expenses to help drive the cost down (reduce individual lesson prices, help cover show fees, etc.). We really do want to make this as affordable as possible!

  • You are expected to attend all club meetings (in-person or virtual).

  • You are expected to show at least 3-4 times each year if not more. By joining the team, you understand that you will be competing for team points as well as individual points.

  • Reasons for missing a club meeting that are UNACCEPTABLE are as follows: studying for exam/homework, last-minute plan changes, or laziness.

  • After 1 missed meeting without an excuse, you get a warning. 2 missed meetings no excuse, no showing at next show. 3 or more missed meeting without excuse will result in your removal from the team.
